The VIIIth International singing Festival-Competition
of Slavic Music “Keep Me Safe, My Talisman”
Organizers: Russian Scientific and Cultural Centre in Ljubljana, the City Hall of Skofja Loka, non-profit cultural and educational organization “Golden Lyre” (Zlata Lira).
Objectives and Goals: establishment and development of cultural exchanges of the Slavic countries; popularization of musical culture and singing traditions of the Slavic countries; discovering of talented performers and promoting the growth of performing culture and mastery.
Participants of the Festival: all wishful regardless of age.
Terms and Conditions of Competition:
All those wishing to take part in the VIIth International Vocal Festival-Competition of Slavic Music «Keep Me Safe, My Talisman» need to send the following documents via e-mail or to the postal address of the Organizing Committee on or before March 20, 2019 (inclusively):
- Application (filled separately for each group or for each solo performer);
- CV (short biography, participation in competitions and festivals);
- Color photograph (10x15cm) in digital format with a resolution of 300 dots per inch;
- Copy of the document confirming payment of the arrangement fee.
- If an accompanist is not available, music sheets copies of the performed compositions for the piano shall be sent in the right keynote.
Nominations, repertoire and order of performance:
— Nomination «Professional Performance» is open for professional performers, students of conservatories and other musical higher education institutions and specialized secondary educational institutions specializing in «Vocal Art» and related specialties, performers without special musical education but working on «Vocal Art» specialty and related specialties.
— Nomination «Amateur Performance» is open for amateurs, students of higher education institutions and specialized secondary educational institutions that are not related to «Vocal Art» specialty.
— Nomination «Ensemble Performance» is open for duets, trios and other vocal ensembles and choirs.
— Nominations «Young performers under 10 years, 11 to 14 years, 15 to 18 years», are open for performers of the corresponding age.
— Live audition is conducted in one round.
— Participants — solo performers in nomination «Professional performance» perform three compositions:
- One composition of any Russian composer, including the classical Russian romance (P. I. Tchaikovsky, M. I. Glinka, S. V. Rachmaninoff, etc.) or an aria from a Russian opera.
- Two compositions of a Slavic authors (at least one of them must be not Russian)
— Participants of all other nominations perform two compositions:
- Two compositions of Slavic authors.
— Participants of the Festival: Participants who do not want to participate in the Competition but wishing to take part in the Festival can perform one or two Slavic compositions.
The program specified in the application can be changed not later than one day before the competitive round.
All compositions are performed to the instrument accompaniment (piano, guitar, etc.)
April 11, 2019 from 2.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m., the Great Hall of the Russian Scientific and Cultural Centre, Ljubljana, Slovenia — a competitive round, live audition of participants in all nominations.
April 12, 2019 from 4.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m., the Great Hall of the Russian Scientific and Cultural Centre, Ljubljana, Slovenia — masterclass of Irina Shabordina (Russia)
April 13, 2018 at 6.00 p.m., Sokolski Dom, Skofja Loka, Slovenia — award ceremony and final gala concert of the winners, jury and honorary guests of the festival.
Grand Prix winner of the festival competition is one contestant from any nomination who received the highest score. The Grand Prix winner is awarded with a diploma and a money prize.
Winners in each nomination receive 1st prize, 2nd prize, and 3rd prize, they are awarded with diplomas and valuable gifts.
A special prize is awarded for the best opera aria performance.
A special prize is awarded for the best performance of the Slovenian composer Jure Robeznik’s composition. (You can find music sheets of the composer Jure Robeznik on the website of the festival contest slo-talisman.com).
The Organizing Committee has the right not to award any prize, to award two or more equivalent prizes and establish additional special prizes.
Financial terms of participation: participants shall pay an arrangement fee
- In the nomination «Professional performance» — 50 Euros.
- For students of musical educational institutions in the nomination «Professional performance» — 30 Euros.
- In the nomination «Amateur performance» — 20 Euros.
- In the nomination «Young performers» — 20 Euros.
In the nomination «Ensemble performance»:
- Ensembles — 40 Euros from the group.
Performers from Slovenia (all nomination) — 20 Euros.
Participants of the Festival (not participating in the competition) — 15 Euro per application.
Payment for accompanist services (if necessary) — 30 Euros (including all performances and rehearsals before them).
Travelling costs, accommodation and meals costs are paid by the participant himself or by the sending party.
Two free tours will be organized (in the city of Skofja-Loka and to Lake Bled) in Russian and English for all participants of the Festival-Competition.
The Organizing Committee can assist in obtaining a Schengen visa, hotel reservation and additional tour programs. In this case, we recommend sending an application in advance.
